“ a rich tapestry of sounds from deep, meditative soundscapes to the kind of religious ceremonial-inspired collages that spit and crackle with an emotional rawness””

“A very fascinating piece of sound art”
- Patrick Bruneel, Luminous Dash

“This sounds like an old worn record, tics, crackles and scratches creating a patina of sound that gently cradles everything else on these two long pieces. The sound changes as the time flows on and it feels like a wander through a huge abandoned mansion. With each room echoing the emotions and events that have occurred through the years there. None of it is loud and most of it is very subtle so you can lose yourself in the environments it conjures up in your mind and drift into wherever it takes you.”

Peter Taylor has been making music as Mortuus Auris & the Black Hand/MAbH since 2008. He is also a visual artist working across many disciplines including photography, animation, illustration, miniatures and painting.

'ORbIT' is his latest work for CNR following ‘Look Under' (2021), 'Unnamed Vagabond' (2022) and the collaboration with poet Karen Schoemer 'Aggro Dulce' (2022).

"With this record I wanted to create a longform journey that glides through shadowy rooms like lost debris gathering glimpses of matter, vibrating in varied patterns across dusty plumes. These are sounds to be listened to via headphones; eyes closed, or open amidst the din of everyday life, each noise and melody leaking, bleeding into the surroundings. As always, I spent a lot of time scouring charity shops for old tapes and records whilst capturing sounds on my Tascam. I scoured the internet for sounds beyond our orbit and also searched the radiowaves for added dissonance. Finally, I played prepared violin and synths live over various premixed sections.

I hope this music brings a little peace in times of war."
