Score is the solo project of Chris Tate, known for his work with d_rradio; producers of a number of notable atmospheric electronica cuts from the early 2000s, along with One Key Magic and Anglo-American band, Salisman.

'Now Here' is his sixth album for Cruel Nature and moves through a fusion of different musical styles, while gently rising and falling in waves of energy and mood, within individual tracks and also across the whole album. There is an undercurrent of oscillating or undulating waves - reflecting life’s ups and downs and the temporary nature of all things.

The opener 'Day One' mines an incessant, restless wilderness that takes its inspiration from jazz rock and prog, while the ascendant electronics and guitars on 'Same Side', 'Swan Song' and 'Lighten Up' convey a wistful, semi-euphoric poignancy. Throughout the album, Tate plays around with the joy and sadness we face every day, giving 'Now Here' an air of realism, honesty and philosophical acceptance'

This is as good as the officially released WRNTDP titles on CIS. Very pleased to pick it up, where the pieces here are longer than most on the records they benefit from the slow unwinding they are afforded. The 18 minute live set excerpt is particularly immersive. Wouldn't be the worst idea in the world to release this on vinyl as a companion to the inevitable repressing of This Nation's Most Central Location. Great stuff. Oh and you get a cool magazine to read as well. Awesome. shaun rogan
